Proceeds To Benefit Chicanos Por La Causa

Todd McFarlane gets to combine two things that he loves – drawing and baseball.

McFarlane is participating in this year’s Home Plate Project, a fundraiser for local non-profits that gets local members of the Arizona community and celebrities to decorate home plates to auction off for charity. This year’s primary non-profit partner is Chicanos Por La Causa.

Clearly channeling his roots, McFarlane created an original drawing of Spider-Manwith “spaghetti webbing,” a technique he created and used frequently while working on the Spider-Man comics during the 80’s. He later went on to create the wildly popular Spawn Comic.

About The Home Plate Project
The Home Plate Project is a fundraiser for local non-profits. The idea of the program is to get members of the Arizona community to decorate home plates that will be provided to them. The plates will then be put on-line here for auction. Participants are encouraged to decorate their plate any way they like that shows their personality, their company’s personality, mission, what they do or just any fun idea they choose. They may paint the plate, attach crafts, apply a photo or again; any way they want to creatively use the space. There is one rule; be creative!!!

About Chicanos Por La Causa
More than forty two years have passed since the day when a group of community and student activists of Mexican descent created Chicanos Por La Causa – CPLC – to address the problems of the barrios of South Central Phoenix, Arizona. Although its initial focus was on creating employment opportunities and combating community deterioration, CPLC became increasingly aware that these problems were much deeper rooted. As a result, CPLC expanded its services to provide assistance to disadvantaged individuals regardless of ethnic origin. CPLC is the only community development corporation in Arizona that offers extensive services in both urban and rural areas. Its service delivery system is expansive enough to effectively reach thousands of low-income people. In its perpetual drive to provide needed services, CPLC continually assesses the needs of its communities throughout Arizona.
