What is your favorite McFarlane Construction Set? I still like those play sets you guys made back in the day for the movie. I believe there were three, pivotal moments in the movie and they were so picture perfect down to the detail, so much enjoyment for a geek like me.

What was the hardest McFarlane Toy to find in your collection? One that I haven’t found yet and probably never will. I lost this Necromancer variant train at the time, when I looked back it was too late to get one at a human price. It will haunt me forever.

What was the most valuable McFarlane Toy in your collection? I have some stuff that you shouldn’t know about so I am not going to discuss it… ehm… but something unique I have and that I find tremendously intriguing is a set of Alien Spawn, a silver one and a gold one. Story goes, you gave away the silver one through some competition. I then stumbled on it through a network of friends and other collectors. To my surprise I discovered then that there was a gold one which was never been used, maybe for a second competition, but I like to think there were different prizes in different colours but then only one made the cut. Those two little toys are my personal favorite and consider them the most valuable.

How big is your McFarlane Toys collection? Huge. So much that I am official out of space and need to buy a new house. I counted over 2000 toys, probably 40% opened and the rest in their lovely boxes. I collect Spawn, I have a few pieces here and there, Conan for example, music figures and the like, but the core of my collection as far as McFarlane goes is Spawn. They wouldn’t call me the IrishSpawn because I was born in Ireland…

Where do you display your collection? In my attic. The story goes that we bought this house because I had a vision. The vision was to have a large space where I could spend countless and pointless house browsing through all my stuff, an attic sounded a great idea and this attic is massive !

What is one toy or brand you wish McFarlane Toys would RE-MAKE? I loved the Conan series, I wish there were more. And of course some more Spawn, even old toys in new packaging, that will do

What is one toy or brand you wish McFarlane Toys would produce? The 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. I believe Stan Winston wanted to produce a series but never materialized. I see them in various styles, like steam punk, or classic or Spawn inspired.

What is one McFarlane Toy you want but don’t have in your collection? As I mentioned before I need a Necromancer with the transparent skin. It’s like, I am missing an organ.

If you were an action figure, what accessories would you come with? A pack of smokes, a pitcher of margaritas, shorts, a lounge shirt… oh my golly, I am Charlie Harper!

Why did you start collecting McFarlane Toys? A long time ago I lost someone who was very important to me. I found difficult to cope with it and I always wanted to start a small Spawn collection so I took that as a substitute and turned it into an obsession for a good few years. It helped a lot distracting me from my thoughts and stuff, I actually got Todd at some point in the years, sot sign for me things I made for friends and fellow collectors, there were great times in between. I met with a lot of people alike and some of them are my best friends and would never had this blessing if it weren’t for a bunch of toys and comics. I guess I will have to thank Todd for that, the day I might actually and finally meet him in person. Come to Ireland to play golf, I’ll be your caddy for the day !
