Jake Peavy

From inauspicious beginnings (a 15th round selection in 1999), Peavy shot through San Diego’s minor league system, making his Major League debut as a 21-year-old in 2002. He was on his way to a likely Cy Young Award in 2004, before an injury cost him the end of the season. After leading San Diego to the N.L. West title and earning his first All-Star berth in 2005, the Padres’ ace is prepared to deliver once again in the 2006 season.
