You don’t have to be the BEST at EVERYTHING to ‘make’ it!!!!!
Sometimes you have to pick one thing and focus on it. Practice that ‘THING’ until you’re proficient….
For example, if you show a book that you penciled, inked, wrote, colored and think you are proficient in ALL of it….it just isn’t realistic. You can be a GREAT penciler, but not as good at inking… but when you show someone your work, they can may think, ‘hey, they have great pencils….I wonder what their art would look like with a professional inker to sass this thing up?’
Here’s a photo of one of my FIRST time inking. I definitely didn’t start out being proficient at inking, but after I got my footing in penciling, I started inking and with practice, I got better.
So, if you’re working towards something… don’t give up. Sometimes it takes a little extra focus to become proficient in something; but it’s always possible.
In fact, ANYTHING is possible if you put your mind (and efforts) to it.
