When I was at the Image Comics Expo last week, I had a LOT of questions on breaking into the comic book industry.
So here’s your TODD TIP for today (it’s a long read, but it’s WORTH IT)!
MAKE THE ATTEMPT:
This seems overly obvious, but if you HAVEN’T made a single step towards that goal NO ONE will know you exist and companies CAN’T HIRE you unless they KNOW you exist.
ASSUME THEY WILL SAY “NO”:
This will make it A LOT easier if they do say that DREADED word. This DOESN’T mean you can’t go in with confidence, but that you should be PREPARED at all times, for all questions. It’s harder for people to tell you “no” if you are PREPARED.
Below is sample of some of the work I sent in when I was looking for a job. I’ve showed you my early work before and how much I’VE changed over the years. It’s not the best, but I GOT MY WORK OUT THERE!
