When I was a kid…. my MOM taught me a VERY important lesson: DON’T PUT YOUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET and it has stuck with me ever since. (I should call her right now and say THANKS MOM! You were right!!!)
When I got into the comic world, I knew JUST doing comics wouldn’t last forever. I had to have OTHER OPTIONS! So when the time was right, I started Image Comics, McFarlane Toys, made a Spawn Movie, animation series as well as did a bunch of other entertainment projects (which I’m continuing today).
I like to dabble in ALL AREAS of art!!! Why should I have to choose just ONE????
It’s SMART to have options and that’s something that I tell people looking for my advice on ‘getting started’ (in whatever industry)…. why not try a BUNCH of things until one OR MANY stick???
