When I look back at my early pages I KNEW my drawing were rough (I was still a young buck in the profession)… which is WHY I was hiding my weakness with ARTISTIC DESIGN ELEMENTS.
Now I know some of you good people are asking…what the heck is that??!
This page below from Marvel Coyote 13 Scorpion Rose, has a bunch of those elements. Around the edges of the page I added a flowing cape and bubbles with the names of the creators on the book which look almost like stickers.
So basically I was DESIGNING my way around my drawing weaknesses to get people to LOOK at the pages in a different way.
I guess it worked, because I’m STILL here.
