Throwback Thursday to my FIRST published (back-up) story, Slash from 1985!!!!
Many of you might know, that my first published story was not the main story of Marvel’s Coyote… it was the BACK-UP story, ‘Slash’. But none-the-less… this was my BIG DEBUT!
A fan gave me a graded copy of Coyote #11 that Stan Lee and I signed. It’s pretty COOL to have a graded copy of your first published story…. I keep it right next to my other prized possession (the Yoga Cats calendar) on my desk.
One of the things I remember MOST about this issue is that in the they introduced me as an artist and gave me this big banner. It was pretty surreal. This issue is one of the true highlights of my career because it meant I was officially in the ‘business…’
Another fun fact is that the letterer on Coyote #11 was Tom Orzechowski. Then, when I started my own comic book, Spawn, he was my first choice because of his work on X-Men and is STILL the letterer on Spawn 30 years later!!!
