You’ve heard me go on and on about Image Comics and how it all started… I know I’ve told the story a few times… but NOW you can WATCH it. Sometimes, watching things on a screen is more exciting than just reading the stories (re: all the time).
I think this is a pretty COOL documentary about seven enthusiastic artists who all had the same dream; to make art. One thing I really like about our story is that it wasn’t ALL pretty. We made some mistakes… we went through some tough times (be careful what you wish for!)… but we all got to do what we wanted to do… MAKE ART! It’s kind of COOL because, we all went into this business together and have since all went our own directions and created different things in this world (no different than three different kids coming from the same family and all on different life paths).
Another thing worth mentioning is that IMAGE is the third biggest comic book distributor and produces 60-70 comic books per month! Image Comics even has about 10% of the market share… and the BIG BOYS are only 2.5 times bigger than us with BIG corporations to back them (shame on them!). I’ve said it before (and now I’m saying it again) that NOW is the time to be an independent creator, and there’s no where else to do it but Image (in my humble opinion)… because what you create is YOURS.
Anyway, today is the RELEASE day of the Image Comics Revolution DVD. You can find it on Amazon, Shout Factory, and iTunes if you’re inclined to watch our story.
