The Hardest Advice to Hear as an Artist…

July 23, 2018

The HARDEST thing to hear as an artist is that your art needs improvement!

You NEED to find someone who will be HONEST to you. Don’t show your work to your mom, because she’ll tell you it is the best drawing she’s ever seen (which is super sweet, but not helpful).

You want to find someone who will help you GROW into a professional. AND the BIGGER part of that is actually LISTENING to that advice and critique. Then, take that advice and APPLY it.

Look it, NO ONE likes to hear their work isn’t good enough and some people don’t like change. BUT the person looking at your work is seeing it from a DIFFERENT point of view.

Here’s a few pages I sent to editors and you can see some of the critique I got back. While it was hard to see as a young artist…it was VERY helpful!
