THE VIOLATOR a.k.a. the CLOWN is Spawn’s most formidable enemy!
I get a LOT of questions about how I came up with his name…so here’s the story:
The origin of his name is that on a cold, rainy night up in Canada, my wife and I were coming home from a night out. She asked me if it was okay if we stopped at the liquor store because she wanted to pick up a bottle of wine. I said sure, but since I don’t drink, I decided to wait in the car while my wife.
So while I was sitting there…I looked out the window and noticed a sign posted on a wall. It read something like… ‘No parking anytime. All violators will be towed.’ I sat looking at it for a few moments and then said to myself…VIOLATOR!?!?
That would make for a COOL and NASTY villain name!!!!!
It was THAT simple. Though I sometimes wonder if we hadn’t stopped that night and went straight home if I would have instead called my first villain ‘NYQUIL’ instead, because I had a cold during that time.
So that’s it!! Inspiration comes from the weirdest places!
