McFarlane Participated in Jersey Giveaway, Media Tour

April 19, 2002

When the Edmonton Oilers asked Todd to design their third jersey, they had no way of knowing it would become the National Hockey League's best-selling third sweater in history.

Todd was there at the October launch when the team sold an equivalent of six months worth of merchandise in just three days. And the team asked him to return to close out the regular season on Friday, April 12 against the Calgary Flames, when the Oilers held their Fan Amazement Night and also thanked Todd for his efforts.

The Oilers wore the jerseys for the game, which they lost 2-0, ending their post-season hopes. However, 23 lucky fans were picked to receive the game-worn sweaters autographed both by the individual player and by Todd after the game. Additionally, Todd personally delivered jerseys to surprised fans in the audience while the team was on the ice.

Todd's schedule was jam-packed on his trip north of the border. He spent Thursday night on ITV's Global Sports Night Show. He dropped a huge surprise on the live audience at the Ft. Saskatchewan Boston's Pizza - Team Canada action figures. He had some early samples to show the audience, which went nuts for the four-packed figures. Click here for details.

Then he was up early Friday to hit the A-Channel Studios for the seminal Big Breakfast morning show, seen across the Alberta province. Todd talked about all things hockey and Hollywood, discussing the Oilers, Sports Picks figures and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. He also autographed a few things for fans that showed up to watch the show outside the open-glass studio. Next, Todd sat in with Edmonton's K-Rock morning show, where the focus switched a bit to McFarlane music figures and hockey. Then, during the team's morning skate at Skyreach Center, he talked with several Edmonton newspaper writers, and later hit the pre-game show on 630 CHED, the Oilers' flagship radio station and was on CFRN TV.
