McFarlane Toys has chosen its next video game action figure property: Capcom's upcoming Onimusha 2.
Coming in 2002 for PS2, Onimusha 2 is a sequel to the popular original Onimusha game, a third-person Samurai adventure. The sequel picks up in 1573, 10 years after the original. The lead character is now Jubei Yagyu, based on popular Japanese actor Yusaku Matsuda (he played Kogi Sato in the Michael Douglas film Black Rain).
The new game will feature the same creative team - Flagship -- handling the scenarios and story. As you'd expect, it's said the graphics and play action are greatly improved over the original.
No photos or other action figure details are available at this time, but enjoy the screen captures from the game. The toys are tentatively scheduled for a May 2002 release.
These action figures are based on a Mature rated video game.
