'DEMON'S HAND' GAME WINS AWARDS
Several Nods for Spawn Video Game in 'Gamers' Republic'
February 23, 2001
The February edition of Gamers' Republic magazine featured a special Y2K Year in Review section in which the magazine staff picked their favorite titles of the year 2000.
Spawn: In the Demon's Hand, the Capcom game released in arcade and Dreamcast versions, won two third-place awards, one in the Best Game Based on a Movie, TV Show or Comic category; and the other in the Best Print Ad category.
The accompanying quote said, "In the Demon's Hand reeked McFarlane and had gameplay to burn, literally," capping off a year of positive press for the game.
The striking print ad featured an amazing one-off piece of art from longtime Spawn penciller Greg Capullo showing many of the game's classic characters.
Interesting factoid alert: Greg's drawing of Overtkill for this ad, along with his Spawn Bible artwork, was used as reference for the Overtkill action figure coming in Spawn Series 20: Classic II.
Stay tuned for Terry Fitzgerald's blah blah blah comic book column in the coming months for game tips and tricks.
