Friday, June 08, 2012
McFarlane's Sports Picks is proud to unveil the next lineup of the College Football series, featuring seven elite players from the National Football League (NFL) captured in all their collegiate glory.
College Football's highest honor is the Heisman Trophy, presented each year to the most outstanding player in the United States. College Football Series 4 boasts an unprecedented five Heisman Trophy winners and two Heisman finalists, including the first NFL Legend and the first figure from the University of Texas!
So lace up your cleats as we take a look at this stacked COLLEGE FOOTBALL SERIES 4 roster:
MARCUS ALLEN – In 1981, Allen became the fourth running back from University of Southern California to be awarded the Heisman trophy after amounting more than 2,000 yards in one season. Allen went on to become the all-time leading rusher in Raider history and was elected to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame in 1999. Allen is the first-ever NFL Legend figure offered in his collegiate uniform.
CHAMP BAILEY – Considered by many as one of college football’s greatest multiple threats, this Heisman finalist from the University of Georgia contributed in all facets of the game. During his final year as a Bulldog, Bailey averaged 103.5 all-purpose yards per game, while also dominating on defense and claiming the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation’s top defensive player.
SAM BRADFORD – The 2008 Heisman trophy winner from Oklahoma is making his SportsPicks debut in College Football Series 4. Bradford dominated since the moment he took the field and currently holds the NCAA record for touchdown passes by a freshman. He is also only the second player in Heisman history to claim the trophy as sophomore. Bradford went on to become the first overall draft pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 NFL Draft.
PEYTON MANNING – Manning surprised the college football world, especially Ole Miss fans, when he chose to play for the University of Tennessee over his father’s alma mater. The results didn’t surprise anyone, as Manning became Tennessee’s all-time leading passer and breaking the Southeastern Conferences’ record for career wins. A Heisman finalist in 1996 and 1997, Manning continued his dominance in the NFL as the Indianapolis Colts QB for 14 years and now the signal caller in Denver.
CAM NEWTON – While leading the Tigers to a National Championship victory in 2010, Newton became only the second player to record 20 or more passing and rushing touchdowns in the same season. That same year, Newton became the third Tiger awarded the Heisman trophy. Later drafted by the Carolina Panthers with the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, he continued to break records and was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Year. This is Newton’s first appearance a main lineup, previously available only as a Collector Level figure in NFL Series 28.
TIM TEBOW – The vocal University of Florida alum became the first sophomore in NCAA history to take home the Heisman in 2007. The all-american quarterback holds the school and SEC record for most touchdown in a single season (51) and helped lead the Gators to two National Championships in three years. Tebow was drafted by the Denver Broncos during the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft and was recently dealt to the New York Jets. Tebow will be debuting his brand-new pose in Series 4.
RICKY WILLIAMS – The 1998 Heisman trophy winner is our first-ever University of Texas figure. Over his career with the Longhorns, Williams held or shared 20 NCAA records including career rushing. He was selected fifth in the 1999 NFL Draft by the New Orleans, with the Saints trading all of their other draft picks from that year for Williams.
McFarlane's Collector Level is well represented in College Football Series 4. Four players (Williams, Bailey, Tebow & Newton) will have low-print, individually numbered rare versions available in their white uniforms. There are two Bronze Level (1,000-2,000), a Gold Level (250-500), and one ultra-rare All-Star Level (50-100) figure.
