A Bonanza for Hockey Fans

"It's a great day for hockey!"

The infamous line uttered by the late National Hockey League (NHL) coach Bob Johnson certainly stands true to this day. Over the last few weeks, the McFarlane Companies have been immersed in hockey with two separate events.

The Phoenix Coyotes and McFarlane Toys teamed up for a special giveaway evening two weeks ago. Just a little over 10 years ago, the Winnipeg Jets relocated to the Valley of the Sun, and the Phoenix Coyotes were born.

The Coyotes honored Bobby Hull at center ice that evening. Hull and Todd McFarlane did an autograph signing on the concourse, and all fans in attendance received a 3-inch Hull figure in a Jets uniform. Everyone had a great time and saw a great game, as the Coyotes fell in a shootout to the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1.

Last weekend, the McFarlane team traveled to Atlanta for the NHL All Star Game. With 3,000 Marian Hossa figures for sale and two Todd McFarlane autograph signings, fans were lining up hours early to purchase the figure and meet the man.

While we didn't completely sell out of the Hossa figures, the event was a success in many ways. This was the company's first visit to Atlanta, and we were able to meet and talk to a lot of our collectors. Additionally, it was a great opportunity for many of Todd's fans to get a chance to get some figures and comic books signed and get a chance to talk to the multi-talented artist.

Furthermore, the NHL graciously granted us access to the all stars in order for us to do a facial scanning session. We were able to get scans of the faces of the players, which are downloaded to a laptop computer and saved as individual files. During the sculpting process, these files help us reach even more detail potential, by picking up all the little things such as scars and player-specific facial expressions.

The McFarlane Companies and Todd McFarlane would like to thank the NHL and the Phoenix Coyotes for all their help, and most importantly all the fans that were able to make it to either of the events and pick up one of the figures.
