Friday, December 21, 2007

Skate decks designed by Todd McFarlane and Adventures of SPAWN artist Khary Randolph helped to raise more than $20,000 for the Swift-Cantrell Skate Park in an auction held Dec. 8. Both painted decks were featured in Atlanta's Foundation One Gallery, alongside 60 other works of art from many other well-known artists such as Shepard Fairey, Paul Frank, Nathan Ota and Mike Giant. The event was attended by an estimated 400 Atlanta-area art buyers, local artists, skateboarders, parents and supporters.

"The event was a huge success," says Swift-Cantrell Skatepark board member, Zak Cochran. "The gallery was PACKED ... we were thrilled with the results. People were blown away with the caliber of artists involved, and really excited that Todd submitted a piece."

According to Cochran, Todd's skate deck was highly sought after, being one of six decks that went for more than $1,000. Khary's deck was another popular deck, awarded to one of SPAWN.com's very own message board members for more than $350.
