TODD'S ORIGINAL 'ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN' #100 SKETCH COVER SELLS BIG ON EBAY
Proceeds Benefit Hero Initiative for Comic Book Creators in Need
Friday, June 29, 2007
Earlier this year, Marvel Comics created blank-covered editions of the landmark Ultimate Spider-Man #100 and gave them to The Hero Initiative - the first-ever federally chartered not-for-profit corporation dedicated strictly to helping comic book artists in need. The Initiative then had a variety of famous comic artists pen original drawings on the covers, to be sold or auctioned at conventions.
A large group of known artists contributed to the cause, and Todd was more than happy to lend his creative talents in the name of this worthy charity. His original cover was placed for auction on eBay, and after a heated bidding war and 37 bids, fetched a staggering $6,701.00!
Just goes to show you, Todd's still got it.
The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for yesterday's creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and entrée back into paying work.
