BEST OF 2005 ACTION FIGURE AWARDS ANNOUNCED
And the Spawny Goes to...

Nine thousand, eight hundred and thirty-two votes were cast in the 2005 McFarlane Toys Action Figure Awards and winners were named in 22 categories. There's no better judge of our figures than the collectors themselves, so let's take a look and see what you crowned the best figures of 2005.

In the Sports categories your voice was heard, and that voice was screaming for FOOTBALL! NFL lines, series or figures won nine of the 10 Sports categories including: Best Likeness (Troy Aikman), Best Pose & Best Legend (Barry Sanders), Best Exclusive (Deion Sanders), Best Boxed Set (Deion Sanders vs. Jerry Rice), Best Lineup (NFL Legends), Best 12-inch Figure (LaDainian Tomlinson), Best 6-inch Figure (Joe Horn), and Best Overall Series (NFL).

Preventing the clean sweep was our Mike Modano retro North Stars figure from NHL 10, which won the Best Chase/Surprise figure category.

Fittingly, the big non-sports winner this year was a line created from many a wish-list on our TOYS message board and numerous e-mail requests from fans and collectors. SPAWN Series 28: Regenerated received five awards -- Line of the Year, Figure of the Year (Mandarin SPAWN 2), Best Boxed Set (SPAWN vs. Urizen), Best Paint (Mandarin SPAWN 2) and Best Packaging.

The rest of the field was pretty varied with Slash winning for both Best Pose and Best Likeness. The SPAWN Series 27 SPAWN vs. Al Simmons deluxe boxed set was your choice for Best Presentation. Fan-favorite ROBOCOP won the Best 12-Inch Figure award. And, in two close races, the "Bloody" Clown 5 Collector's Club Exclusive edged out the Toys ‘R' Us Army Desert Infantry deluxe boxed set as the Best Exclusive and Red Riding Hood's gutted wolf and King Conan of Aquilonia's throne actually tied as the year's Best Accessory. Finally, the 2005's Best Online Feature, as voted by you, the fans, was Napoleon Dynamite.
