Maybe you missed it in the theaters, but now is your chance to buy or rent The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys when it releases on DVD and VHS, Tuesday, Nov. 5.

For anyone not familiar with the project, Altar Boys is an independent film distributed by ThinkFilm and produced by Jodie Foster's Egg Pictures, based on the 1992 debut novel by Chris Fuhrman. Starring Kieran Culkin, Jena Malone, Jodie Foster, Emile Hirsch and Vincent D'Onofrio, this R-rated film is a coming-of-age drama from director Peter Care. The main characters are budding comic artists and the film uses nearly 20 minutes of Todd McFarlane's comic-style animation as a storytelling device.

When it opened in June, the media coverage was positive, with everyone from USA Today to Rosie O'Donnell giving the film praise. Foster, who also stars in the film, appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman and gave kudos to Todd's animation after showing a promotional clip.

McFarlane fans will enjoy the DVD Special Edition. Several extra features involve him, including the following as named on the DVD menu:
