More than 7, 000 Calgarians weathered the morning clouds to enjoy the afternoon sun at McMahon Stadium on Saturday, May 15, for the ninth annual Stampeders' Fan Fest. Native Calgarian Todd McFarlane was in attendance for the unveiling of the new Canadian Football League Players Association logo designed by his company, and an autograph session for the thousands of fans who turned out to meet him.

Upon his arrival, McFarlane was greeted by hundreds of fans waiting for the 10 am signing to begin. He signed an array of McFarlane Toys figures and comic books continually for more than five hours, stopping only for the unveiling of the CFLPA logo.

"Without question, Todd McFarlane was the biggest hit at this year's Calgary Stampeders open house. CFLPA Pro Players could not have made a better selection in having Todd design our new marketing division logo," said Stu Laird, CFLPA's president. "My biggest surprise was to see how truly approachable Todd was toward all those fans, it was fantastic to have so many people out to see the official launch of the new CFLPA marketing logo. He showed a compassionate side that you don't normally see in people of his celebrity. It's our great pleasure to be associated with Todd McFarlane, and I hope we can continue a personal and professional relationship for years to come."

Everyone had a great time at the Stampeders Experience. A new inflatable interactive theme park was presented by the Calgary Stampeders Football Club and the Royal Tyrrell Museum. The fun will continue when the Stampeders Experience is showcased prior to every Stampeders home game of the upcoming season.

Following the event, Todd returned to his alma mater, William Arberhart High School, to speak to an auditorium packed with 600 excited students on Monday.

"First off, go Trojans!" McFarlane said to a chorus of cheers before he delivered his message to students. And it was a simple one: Find something you love to do and keep at it until you're successful.

After the presentation, McFarlane donned the official school T-shirt and signed as many autographs as possible before catching his flight back to Phoenix.

Thanks to everyone who came to the events. Todd really enjoyed meeting everyone and appreciates the support.
