McFarlane Collection Set to Roll into Branson
Nov. 26, 1999
The next stop on the McFarlane Collection baseball tour will be at Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum in Branson, MO, Dec. 16-20. The 70 ball, Mark McGwire's record-setting 70th home-run baseball from the 1998 Major League baseball home run race, was recently named "Most Valuable Baseball" in the Guinness World Records 2000 Millenium Edition. A silent auction including celebrity autographed memorabilia and action figures from McFarlane Toys will be on the bidding block.
In its first year of touring, the McFarlane Collection - featuring 10 balls from the 1998 Sammy Sosa-Mark McGwire home run race and other baseball memorabilia - traveled to 24 Major League cities across the United States. Some 600,000 fans viewed the exhibit in 1999.
All donations and proceeds from the Collection go directly to the ALS Association, the tour's official charity and the association leading the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease.
