TODD DISCUSSES 'ALTAR BOYS' WITH SUNDANCE TV
New Jodi Foster Film Opens on June 14
April 12, 2002
On April 8, a crew from the Sundance Channel's Anatomy of a Scene series interviewed Todd at the spawn.com headquarters in Arizona. During the nearly two-hour interview, Todd was asked to discuss a pivotal scene in the upcoming Jodie Foster movie The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. The segment, known as the "dead dog scene," mixes live action -- featuring Kieran Culkin and newcomer Emile Hirsch -- with animated sequences by Todd that bring the actors' fantasy universe to life and parallel the live-action tale of friendship, first-love and inevitable loss.
This Sundance Channel original series featuring Altar Boys is scheduled to air on Sunday, June 16, on the heels of the film's June 14 box office debut.
Anatomy of Scene goes inside the creative process of filmmaking. In each episode, the director, along with the crew and cast, dissect a pivotal scene from a film currently in theaters. Storyboards, out-takes and sketches reveal the challenges and collaboration that goes into making a cinematic moment.
Sundance also will use additional interview footage of Todd for another show, Close-Up, that will provide a short biographical look at Todd's career as an artist. More details on that program will be available soon.
