SIMPLY 'MARV'-ELOUS PUBLICITY
Death Row Marv Called 'Shocking,' 'Disgusting,' 'Cool' in Worldwide Media

Not since last year's Rev. Rose Warped Toys List, has a McFarlane Toys action figure cooked up such an international uproar as Death Row Marv, the latest in a series of comic book character-inspired action figures.

This figure is based on Frank Miller's comic book anti-hero Marv (Sin City) in a re-creation of the final scene in the series' original story arc. Death Row Marv comes equipped with a "working" electric chair, switch and voice chip of Marv's "last words" -- for the days when it's time to let off a little steam.

Marv is 6 1/4 inches tall seated on the electric chair. When you flip the switch, you hear an electric buzz sound, Marv's eyes glow red, he convulses and says, "That the best you can do, you pansies?" He is articulated at the neck, shoulders, waist and wrists, and comes with the chair, wired helmet, floorboards and electrocuting switch.

Since it hit stores in late June, the ink has run as thick as Marv's blood, with coverage from some of America's leading newspapers and media outlets. The impressive list includes the New York Times, The Seattle Times, The Washington Post, The New York Post, Wired.com, plus the BBC in Belfast and VEJA, a Brazilian weekly that holds the title of the "fourth most read globally." Additionally, The Late Show with David Letterman did a skit dubbed "Political Souvenirs" using a modified Death Row Marv rigged to light up "Vote Bush" when the switch is flipped. The gag refers to presidential candidate and Texas Gov. George. W. Bush, who has presided over a record number of executions during his gubernatorial tenure.

So, where can you get one? Marv is primarily available in the comic book shops served by the Diamond Distribution network. It is also available in specialty market shops, including Electronics Boutique, Babbages, the Musicland Group (Mediaplay, Sam Goody, Sun Coast, On Cue and Musicland stores), Virgin and Tower. Online retailers include hollywood.com, fandom.com, tncuniverse.com and spawntoys.com. It is also available internationally in Australia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and the UK.

With all this publicity, you better get one quick, before Marv's time is up!
