McFarlane-Sandler Team Up for Little Nicky
McFarlane Toys to Produce Action Figures for Upcoming Comedy
June 9, 2000
McFarlane Toys has just signed on to produce a line of action figures for the hot new Adam Sandler flick, Little Nicky, from New Line Cinema.
"We're trying to re-create scenes from the movie that include specific characters and audio clips from the film. We've already had great success with New Line and Austin Powers, and I expect this project to be even more successful," said Todd McFarlane, founder of McFarlane Toys. "New Line has been kind enough to allow me to deal directly with Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo to make sure we get this right. The content of this movie is right up my alley since I like to take chances, and this movie is also going to take some chances."
The film is due in theaters this fall. Tentative plans call for a line of figures to include:
• Little Nicky with Beefy
• Little Nicky with Cassius
• Gate Keeper with Gary
• Deluxe Beefy
In the film, Sandler portrays the shy and awkward son of the Devil (Harvey Keitel). When Dad decides to rule Hell for another 10,000 years, Little Nicky's brothers decide to create their own "Hell"-in New York City! In the process, they disrupt the natural order of things causing Nicky's Dad, The Devil, to lose his power and slowly die. With no other options, the weakening Devil orders his beloved, but feeble son Nicky to leave his sheltered life in Hell for the mean streets of New York. With the fate of the planet resting on his shoulders, a nervous Nicky and his guide Beefy (a foul-mouthed, talking dog) must find Nicky's brothers, overcome their formidable powers, and restore the balance between Good and Evil. The film's cast features some of television and film's top comedy stars including Patricia Arquette, Rodney Dangerfield, Kevin Nealon, Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz, along with Ozzy Osbourne, David Spade, Quentin Tarantino and Reese Witherspoon. Little Nicky is directed by Steven Brill.
