70 Home Run Ball Hits the Road Again
McFarlane Collection Set for Second Year of Touring
May 8, 2000
After a successful initial tour of Major League Baseball stadiums in 1999 (which drew close to 1 million fans), the McFarlane Collection of historic baseballs is heading back out to the highway for 2000.
This year, the Collection - which contains Mark McGwire's $3 million 70th home run baseball as well as nine other McGwire-Sammy Sosa balls from the 1998 season - will tour minor league stadiums during the summer. Following the minor league run, the Collection embarks on a mall tour. Check the events section on this site to see if we're coming to your town.
Highlights of the 2000 tour include a stop at the Triple-A All-Star game and a presence at the ALS Advocacy Day in Washington DC.
As always, the ALS remains the official charity of the tour and all proceeds go directly to the fight against Lou Gehrig's disease.
Between the Collection tour and the Spawn.com interactive van tour, we're bound to be in your area, so come by and say hi.
